The SIA8156 is a high-efficiency boost monaural Class-D audio amplifier consisting of an integrated adaptive boost converter, an output level controller (for clipping avoidance and speaker temperature protection based on output power control), and battery voltage and chip temperature monitoring modules.

The adaptive DC-DC converter can boost the output voltage up to 9V. The boosted output voltage can easily drive a wide range of loudspeakers, from 6Ω to 32Ω (8Ω typical), with an output power exceeding 4.0W (THD <1%). Thanks to the adaptive boost converter, the SIA8156 saves more than 10% of power in low-power output mode compared to conventional solutions on the market.

Employing a state-of-the-art Class D amplifier, the speaker mode noise is as low as 40μV, and the receiver mode noise is as low as 10μV, enhancing the audio performance of smartphones at low volumes. The SIA8156 supports ultra-low noise receiver mode, eliminating the need for a separate receiver driver.

The SIA8156 incorporates speaker temperature protection to prevent speaker damage. It monitors speaker temperature through a special output power and timing mechanism. Multiple on-chip protection functions are provided to prevent chip overheating.

The SIA8156 can be configured by an external processor via I2C. The SIA8156 supports single-ended and differential analog audio signal input.

The chip is packaged in a 20-pin FCQFN package with a 0.4mm pitch. The product can operate over a wide temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
